As we have four kids and a dog, all with different tastes, it means that it doesn't always go smoothly when eating out. We can safely say that the Royal Oak was very good. Traditional pub fare, all delivered at same time so no one was left waiting. All the food was piping hot. They were struggling due to staff shortage, but a few extra minutes wait was fine. Good food and good service. We will definitely go back again if in the area. Dog friendly which is such a plus. Read Less

Really good stay. Very comfortable room and very friendly. Thanks to the landlady for giving our little one use of the soft play area, even though it wasn't open that day. Excellent cooked breakfast in the morning.

Good location and staff very friendly. We had the soup and garlic mushrooms which were very nice, and served in a good time. The chicken burger was okay too. However, that's where the positives ended. The chips with the main course were awful, very dry and almost cold in temperature. They'd clearly been reheated, and not very well either. The desert was incorrect, which meant one of us couldn't eat it. No one came to the table at any point and asked if we were okay. But all of this was overshadowed by the stench of urine which drifted of out the toilets, everytime the toilet door opened. Going forward, please consider doing proper cooked chips, please make sure orders are correct, please ask your customers if they are okay, and please put some air freshener in the toilets. 👍 Read Less

The people were helpful and friendly but sadly the shower room lacked any shelf space so nowhere to put soap, flannels, shower creams etc and the, wash basin was tiny. Just had the mixed grill. I can honestly say it was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Top marks to them all. If you want great food come here.
